IBJ says Dick Rea has been named communications director at Methodist Sports Medicine Center. Is the name just a coincidence, or did he forget to tell WTHR?

It is not a rumour, Ms. Lewis is indeed moving on this month. Perhaps she will be headed for :friendlier: skies?

Dick Rea's contract with WTHR had expired a few months ago and he has been working as a freelancer since then.

Roger Harvey won't be missed by this Hoosier. It is unfortunate about Parella Lewis and Dick Rea though. It appears that WTHR is seeing a mass exodus of much of their talent base.

I don't think that 13 has filled Roger Harvey's spot yet but if you look at the Dispatch Broadcast Group (parent co. of WTHR) career opportunity page you won't see an opening for the weather department. WTHR may have it filled allready, and her departure may be hush-hush much like Tim "Tree Boy" Bush's was. It makes you wonder if Parella Lewis might have ruffled a few too many conservative feathers around there. What a shame.

From The Indianapolis Star:

Some shoes to fill at WTHR

When Jim Tellus joins WTHR (Channel 13) as news director later this month, he'll have a few newsroom slots to fill ASAP.
Seems meteorologist Parella Lewis wasn't interested in signing a new contract with the station, said spokesman Jeff Dutton. Lewis started at Channel 13 in January 2004, and her last day will be Jan. 12. Dutton didn't know Lewis' plans, and she didn't return phone calls.
Reporter Alex Sanz is also jumping ship, so to speak, and will head to KHOU (Channel 11), Houston's CBS affiliate, Dutton said. Sanz has been with Channel 13 since 2003.

I've just heard talk of a possible deal between Parella Lewis and NBC 29 in Charlottesville, VA. It seems odd to me to move to a much smaller market. If it is true you can be sure there's a story behind it.

On the other hand Alex Sanz made a great climb up the job ladder with his move to KHOU. It's a prominent large-marekt station that I watched while living in Houston a few years back.

I hope WTHR can now sign some rock solid talent. There is nothing wrong with a little eye candy but it is supposed to be the news after all.
