Parella Lewis joined the SkyTrak weather team in January, 2004, and can be seen anchoring "Weekend Sunrise" Saturday and Sunday mornings on Channel 13. She came to Indianapolis from the NBC affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she spent two and a half years as a meteorologist. While in Little Rock, she was part of the state's first dual weather team where she shared the 5, 6 &10:00 p.m. weathercasts with the chief meteorologist. Parella went on to become the weekend anchor and primary storm chaser, tracking down tornadoes and severe weather throughout the state. Parella began her career in the place she spent most of her childhood. She worked as the 5,6 & 10 p.m. weather anchor at KATC TV in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she forecasted everything from hurricanes and floods to extreme heat. She is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Parella has always enjoyed being active in her community. She served as vice co-chair of Lafayette Teen Court, an organization designed to give teens in trouble a second chance. While in Little Rock, Parella was named Volunteer of the Year by the Juvenile Diabetes association and was given the treasured Blue Knight award by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Parella loves Indiana and is eager to become involved in her new community as well. Parella spent over two years with her family in Kenya, Africa, when she was a teenager and her parents remain heavily involved in international missions. When not at work, she spends her time doing outdoor activities such as running, hiking and kayaking. She also enjoys playing and working on music in her spare time.
